About

Hi I’m Matt and I’m an animholic. Actually I like all sorts of Art and all sorts of terribly geeky stuff as well.

At the moment I’m freelancing as an animator for 2D and 3D, illustrator and concept artist, post production guy. I’m mostly keeping the blog to make sure I keep producing artwork and animation instead of sitting in front of Top Gear.

**NEW** Portfolio Site for easy access to all my artwork: Optimistic Painter Portfolio

I’m also using the blog as a showcase of work for prospective employers, so if you’ve got a gig you think I could have a stab at, feel free to contact me at:

optimisticpainter‘at’aapt.net.au.

Just replace the ‘at’ with @.

  1. Hallo Matthew,
like the futuristic design of wip#3 and the ground.
The position of the latest plane, as well as the way the “skin” looks.is very effective.
    Cheers,Martin.

    • Hi!
the ground is the same in both images, just a bit more obscured with the closer jet. I haven’t settled on the angle of the ground so more may become exposed.(painting the canyons has been the easiest part of this project)

  2. Thanks for the nice comment on my blog! I’ve always been a fan of your work, so that meant a lot. Congratulations on prehistoric kitteh (going viral is fun) and also on uber-mega drawing talent! Maybe see you at SVP in Vegas this year? -Jenn (PhillyArtGirl)

    • Thanks Jenn,
I really enjoy your stuff, it ‘s fun and adventurous!(the Tyrannosaur headed sparrows are my favorite)
I don’t think I’ll be making it to the SVP since I’m all the way down at the bottom of Oz with the Tasmanian Devils!
I’ll be quite envious of all you people!
      Matt
